Dr. Jeffery J. Machat

Dr. Jeffery J. Machat obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Toronto in 1986, where he subsequently completed both his medical internship and residency. He then became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1990 and certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 1991.

Dr. Machat was one of the first surgeons in North America to perform laser vision correction and is recognized as an innovator in the field of laser refractive surgery. He’s performed over 75,000 vision correction procedures, including over 600 on optometrists and ophthalmologists who have sought out Dr. Machat for their procedure.

He had also undergone a vision correction procedure himself in 2012 to eliminate his need for reading glasses. Most recently, Dr. Machat served as the medical director for NVISION Eye Centers in Toronto. He is a co-founder of TLC Laser Eye Centres and previously held the role of medical director there and is also the founder and medical director at Crystal Clear Vision.

Apart from his experience as an eye surgeon, Dr. Machat also devotes himself to researching pioneering new procedures as well as teaching fellow medical professionals, having trained thousands of surgeons in various laser vision correction techniques in 24 countries worldwide. Additionally, he has authored two textbooks on the subject: The Art of LASIK and Excimer Laser Refractive Surgery: Practice and Principles.

Dr. Machat regularly presents at conferences around the world on several topics relating to laser vision correction.
