Dr. Collazos finished her medical degree at the Universidad Latina De Panamá, where she graduated with honours.
She went on to complete internships at Panama s Hospital Gustavo Nelson Collado as well as Hospital Santo Tomás, where she also finished a residency in general surgery. Afterwards, Dr. Collazos finished a residency in ophthalmology at Complejo Hospitalario.
Dr. Collazos is currently a cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery clinical fellow at the University of Toronto. She was previously the Chief Surgeon at Fundación ProVision, which works to eliminate preventable blindness from cataracts in low-income communities.
Prior to this, Dr. Collazos was an ophthalmologist at Panama Eye Center, where she helped research and develop new, cutting-edge technology for intraocular lenses and glaucoma devices.
During her residency at Complejo Hospitalario, Dr. Collazos was named Chief Resident in recognition of her technical skills and dedication to patient care. As an accomplished researcher, she’s been an investigator for studies with ViaLase Inc., Istar Medical, AceVision, and Alcon, to name a few.
